I know you said in north Georgia, but here is another thought. Drive another hour or less to Cherokee, NC. Permits for fishing only $10 a day on the Reservation. No other fishing license is required. There are multiple campgrounds in the area. I have stayed at Indian Creek Campground. There is also a KOA. The fishing is MUCH better and the fish are bigger if you don't mind a little extra drive up 441.

Yeah,cherokee is awesome. That's where I was born and raised. Was just looking for something closer.
