a guy at work gave me a box of ammo.he said it wouldn't cycle through a semi auto but he has shot alot of it through a remington 710. the box say's 30 cal 175 grain match ammo military.now i put it in my 700 and the bolt is hard to close. i put it beside a 180 gr core loct and it is a little longer. would you shoot it in a 30-06? thanks

I'm not shooting anything out of any platform of I'm unsure of the caliber....that creates a possible pop bomb....

Is your rifle a 30-06? Because military ammo marked "30 CAL" is 30-06. 308 is marked 7.62 NATO. But, the real story is told on the headstamp of the cartridge.

If it doesn't chamber, I'd trash it. or pull the bullets and reuse the components.

I won't shoot my own reloads if the bolt is hard to close- that's a sign of a problem. Personally, I'd either pull the parts and use the components or sit it on the shelf and let it look pretty.

Could be factory ammo, could be somebody's reloads that were put back in that box.

the box say's 1967 match lake city army ammunition plant. caliber .30 match headstamp say's lc 30 match bullet is 173 grain velocity 2640 f.p.s i think i will give it back to him

i don't think it is reloads. he said the guy he got them from was in the military. and has a lot of this in ammo cans. but the bolt is pretty hard to close on my 700 with this ammo. so i don't think i will shoot it thanks guys
