For my daughters birthday we are building a set of AR15's. Bought two stripped lowers and have parts to build some uppers to go with them.

Offered to maybe get hers Cerakoted in whatever color she would like (she may just stick with plain old black) but I got to thinking if I were going to cerakote one or both, I assume it would be easier/cheaper to have it done while I have the stripped lower, stripped upper and rail before we build them up?

Also it's best at to do any engraving now as well.

You will definitely save sending stripped parts for cerakote vs sending a complete gun.

Just know depending on who you use and how good of a job they do you may be filing out cerakote when you build it. Some is pretty much a guarantee but I’ve seen some that took longer cleaning back up than building the whole gun.

Ive never charged to strip or reassemble a firearm ever...it has to be completely torn down anyway...if i do it myself, i can see what im dealing with as far as reassembly issues or parts that may need to be fit to make tolerances work after cerakote...time is money but your cost should already have that factored into it in my opinion...
