Check the grain in this stock

This is the butt stock of the Stevens model 77H pump 12 gauge I am presently refinishing. I knew the grain wood really stand out with some shine on it but it turned out to be much more beautiful than I imagined. The grain is almost a moving 3D effect when you turn the grain in the light. It almost has a flip effect going on when moved. I think the owner is going to be pleased with this job. It is truly amazing when you are up close and able to turn the stock in the light.

I saw one in tiger maple a few years ago.
They have awesome stocks.

First one that I've seen with the stock like that but those older guns have really good wood on them. Plus this gun is a step or two above a base model and that makes a difference on grade of wood as well

That's called Fiddleback wood grain and it's very desirable in a rifle stock. Nice!

It's wild to see it flip in the light. It almost shifts. It's hard to explain but the effect is cool.

Looks like ripples in water, almost like you could dip your fingers in it.
