Colt Historical Letters

My opinion and experience is that the value of your Colt will be increased by more than the cost of a letter.
Colt collectors love those letters.
You might get lucky and the letter will show that the gun was shipped to a famous person or location. If so the value may be enhanced a LOT.
Your gun looks to be in original, well used condition. Don't ever let those original grips get away.
Very nice!

Unfortunately while the grips are original one of the screw escutcheon came loose at some point years back. It has one in there. Not 100% original. Has replacement screws throughout. All though done years back

It may not be worth it from a strictly financial angle, but if it's a keeper it's worth it from the historical side IMO. I've done it for the majority of my Colts, and done the equivalent for a Smith & Wesson and a couple of Savages. I wish more manufacturers offered that sort of thing.

Yeah
It deserves a letter imo. Looks like trail wear to me. Grips are awesome. The letter will tell where it shipped to also. Collectors prefer a western destination on these. Like Missouri, the gateway west. A west letter adds a bit more value.
