I was told by my firearms instructor that police were not allowed (by law) to ask you if you possessed a concealed weapons permit. He said he heard that, but was still unsure.

very true. To be honest I didn't read the post I quoted that hard, I was half asleep still. But you are very correct.Probable cause of what?
It’s not illegal to carry a long gun in public, permit or no permit, or a handgun with a permit. Simply being in public armed, absent any other action that would lead a reasonable officer to believe a crime is being or has been committed would not be probable cause of anything.
Responding and making a consensual contact would be lawful. Detaining and demanding proof of carry status would not. A citizen’s fear of an armed man in public absent some other action(s) is not probable cause of anything in Georgia.

Some of us do care. It's troublesome to us that we need permission slips to fish, hunt, and exercise other god given rights. When asked to show the permission slip for no other reason than to satisfy ones curiosity is kinda like salt in the wound. You have to have a driver's license to drive, a fishing license to fish, hunting license to hunt......etc.
If a LEO respectfully asks to see my GWL, I will respectfully show it to him / her.
I don't really. care what the legalities are that's just courtesy and good manners.

lolExcept I wouldn't lump all law enforcement into the same group. If you do that you might as well go out and take a knee with the NFLIt's back to the "Guilty until you prove your Innocence".
No one is innocent in the eyes of the law, except the law itself.lol
