Julie likes spinning reels regardless of how were fishing so mainline on hers is 30lb braid. I prefer using baitcasters for bottom fishing live and cut baits with sinkers so I'm using Seagaur InvisX flouro 20lb for mainline. Then we both use 15lb InvisX fluoro for leader. For the areas we're fishing we don't break off many fish so 15 lb test is fine. If we're in an area with lot's of bottom snags we'll will need to go with bigger leader and possibly bigger main line. The real trick for light leaders and big fish is to having your drag set right for whatever test you're using.
