A Covington was shot to death Sunday night in Rockdale County, and two men have been arrested, according to the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office

Rockdale County deputies responded to a shooting on the 2600 block of Country Trace around 11 p.m. Sunday, where they found Alexander Derrick Hunter, 21, of Covington, dead, reportedly from the shooting.

Investigators determined the incident occurred during a clandestine meeting involving a weapon purchase.

One suspect, Christian Elijah Evans, 20, of Covington, was taken into custody around 2 p.m. Monday. A second suspect, Kahleil Barton-Smith, 21, of Conyers, was taken into custody just after 5 p.m. Monday.

Evans is charged with being a party to the crime of murder and armed robbery, while Barton-Smith is charged with murder and armed robbery. Both men are being held in the Rockdale County Jail without bond, according to the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office.

I don't understand the las line of the OP...says that the M&G/ RCSO block party will still be held the FOLLOWING WEEKEND. Why would it not be held? Is one murder in that supposedly bad area a reason to cancel a block party held by the sheriffs office, for the next weekend ? Maybe I just aren't reading it right?
