Interesting Read -
I was a top level manager with Cracker Barrel for nearly a decade a while back, and that man in the logo was someone I knew. His name was Uncle Herschel, and he was actually the uncle of Cracker Barrel's founder, Danny Evins, whom I also knew. He was a real man who was very kind and the epitome of what we were projecting at Cracker Barrel at that time, and what I think most people think of as Cracker Barrel until very recently. Herschel was not a caricature of anything. He was a real person representing the wholesome country food and fellowship that gathering for a meal used to mean for so many. Herschel went to new store openings with us, and since I was involved in opening quite a number of them in the Midwest, I spent some time with him on occasion. Hopefully, CB will remember who their customers are and maintain traditions that are the fiber of their branding.

Thanks for sharing. I have always enjoyed the food and fellowship at CB. I travel often so I eat at them often. I would hate to see them lose sight of what is important and separate from what makes them a good place to eat.

Interesting. I am not really understanding all of the craziness to be honest. I have eaten at countless cb’s over the years. One thing that’s been reliable there over the last 5-6 years was the quality was going to be less than great and the price was going to be more. So we hadn’t gone to one in a year or so. My wife drug me into the one by KSU last Saturday. I was actually quite surprised. The main dining area had been painted a liter color and it was considerably brighter (less dreary) still had a bunch of the same stuff on the walls. Gone was the lattice work and dust of years past. Where I feel it really shined, ALL of the food ordered was PERFECT. Seriously the best meal I ever had at a Cracker Barrel. The bill for 4 of us was $85 before tip but I would do it again for sure if the food was of that same quality every time. I guess only time will tell.

Well it looks like the CEO heard the people’s voice and has officially scratched the major branding change!

I wonder if it was pressure from Trumps recent tweet earlier today?

“Cracker Barrel should go back to the old logo, admit a mistake based on customer response (the ultimate Poll), and manage the company better than ever before,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Tuesday.

“They got a Billion Dollars worth of free publicity if they play their cards right. Very tricky to do, but a great opportunity,” he wrote, adding that it’s time to “Make Cracker Barrel a WINNER again.”
