It started life as an early model plain Jane 110 Savage in 270. Synthetic stock, 24" tapered pencil barrel.
What I have done:
Replaced the barrel with a McGowan 22" varmint profile (medium heavy) barrel 1/10 twist ,deep recessed 11* crown matte blue finish
boyds pro varmint stock
fish eye fluted bolt
tactical bolt handle
Waiting on a new timeny trigger
DNZ scope mount
and bead blast the reciever and reblue.
Right know it has the standard two peice mount 4×12×50mm weaver scope.
The weight as is unloaded is 7 1/2 lbs not too bad!

Looks good in pics.
The specs look good "on paper."
But what I want to know is, how much have you improved its performance?
Did you do some serious bench-rest shooting in the factory configuration before you started replacing stuff?
With a variety of handloads or a few kinds of premium .270 Win ammo in various bullet weights?

Did not pull the trigger as it was bought for 250.00 no scope just mounts and DIRTY, I have owned alot of savages and with a little tweeting on hand loads they really perform. I wanted a decent platform to play with. I did not like the 24" barrel and wanted a heavier barrel. I have a couple barrels from McGowan and they are teat barrels. I will post up the data when start shooting it. Will start 140 gr semi factory load.

It's still a Savage.

Remember,
You asked.

Edit;
I see now that wasn't nice.

I'm interested to see how it shoots.

Post Results.

Typical problem is the lack of availability of high BC projectiles for .277: other than cutting edge, which is mucho expensive.

These heavies are very available in 6.5mm and 7mm.

Momma always said "if yer gonna act lika turd, go lay inna yard"

Movin on....

Nice work on the savage. Its always best to "make it yours" betcha it shoots lika champ!!
I wish Beeger would offer their high BC bullets in .277.

.270 has been my deer rifle caliber for about 15yrs: to say I'm a .270 fan would be an understatement.

After rereading my post, I see I was a little coarse: that was not my intent OP.
A little harmless Banter, with a touché of honestly was my intent.

Thanks for the Check Sharps40: I also hope you don't mind me using your mama's saying.

Again,
Please share results on how it shoots OP.
