I have been carrying junk folders and started looking for a nicer one and the prices jump quickly to more than I would care to spend.

What is a good choice for less than $100?

Spyderco Delica or Endura. The Delica is smaller and I like it better, but if you prefer a larger knife, the Endura would be the way to go. Someone has an Endura for sale on here with the full serrated blade if that's to your liking.

I like spyder co and Kershaw. Not a big fan of the serrated blades. The last one I bought was a kershaw like the one in the link. It doesnt have open assist but it has a hook that if you pull back while taking it out it hangs on your pocket and fully opens it (there's a video on how it works). It's very handy and easy when you only have one hand free. I have had it for over a year with no problems. I also have one with open assist but like the other one better

Clip is reversible. Bi-metallic blade holds a wicked edge. Can open with the flick of a finger.

I carry the Spyderco endurance with the wave feature. You pull it out and it is opened. I have over 100 knives including autos and assisted openings. I like the wave feature best. The only thing better is a short fixed blade like the Esse izula.

Kershaw Link. Made in the USA, comes in a variety of colors including blue, Black, and gray, comes in various blade configurations including plain edge, partially serrated, and tanto, comes in a variety of blade coatings including Blackwashed and uncoated stainless, and it has the SpeedSafe Assisted opening.

$40 for an made in the USA spring assisted knife is hard to beat...

Kinda depends on how you plan to use it. If made in the USA matters for general purpose under $100 the Kershaw knockout is hard to beat. (The Dividend is also nice if you get the M390 version but is a liner lock rather than a frame lock.)

I've really enjoyed the Kershaw Launch 1 over the past 3 years. Some of them come in S30V for the same price. Check out kershawguy.com

The Knockout is another great knife and you can buy a blem from Kershaw guy for less than $50 shipped. Kershaw guy is great to deal with and his "blems" are great knives. I haven't seen one yet that I know why it is a blem.

This knife is also available from the same place in Black blade/Olive scales.
