Department of Justice Virus - BEWARE!

Got a phone call earlier from the wife and she asked me if I had been looking at porn on the internet from home?! I assured that I had not and asked why she would even think of something like that. She said our computer had been locked by the department of justice for pornography, copyright infringement, etc. and for a $300.00 fee they would unlock our computer. If we did not comply within 72 hours they would turn it over to the supreme court of the United Kingdom! By God!! I told her to hold on and let me look this up and see if this was a scam. VOILA! It was a scam and we had a hell of a time getting rid of it. Make sure your anti-virus software is up to date and save yourself some trouble. From what I have read several folks shelled out 200-400 dollars to get there computers unlocked. Just thought I would pass it along to those who had not heard of it.

We got this virus earlier this year. It accuses you of watching illegal porn and says you have anywhere from 48-72 hours to send your fine to them or you'll face federal charges. It's been around for years but the offenders keep updating it because they make money. Luckily my computer was still under warranty. We lost all of our files resetting our computer. Most of the "fixes" offered are for the older versions of the virus and didn't work for us. It locks your computer down. The only thing that would stop the version we had was Microsoft security Essentials, which we didn't have but do now.

I told her to leave it alone but she called Dell and spent $129.00 and it still isn't working. Why won't women listen when we tell them not to do something? They said it was out of warranty so I'll guess I'll have to do something different now. It is 3 or 4 years old and I can buy one better than the existing one for $400.00. I would really like to get my hands on the little techie nerds neck doing this crap! He would have to type a keyboard with something other than his hands and feet after I got done with him and that's a fact!
