I tried to find the entire video but could only find it broken up in 7 videos. You've probably seen it on pbs but if you haven't, it's worth an hour. Its pretty incredible. Really impressive man.

I read today that on top of all this other stuff he kept his batch of sourdough starter alive for over 20 years. I'd screw that up day one.
I've watched a video on him.they say he walked an average of about 3000 miles a year if I remember correctly.
Old school...self sufficient
I bought the DVD... watch it every few months. He inspired me to build my own cabin and live in the woods. Haven't regretted it yet.

I've watched it (and the sequel) multiple times and bought the book. He was impressive beyond belief. But that shows how we grade by TODAY's standards. The average man that settled the west would make most of us look like school girls.
I used to watch this with my dad when I was younger and loved it. Now that I'm 48, it absolutely amazes me that he started this journey when he was 51 years old!
Being a woodworker myself, I was always impressed with everything he made. Tools, spoons, bear proof hinges for his front door. Amazing!
This should be required viewing for all kids these days.
