I had the chance to go on a DMZ tour today. We stopped at the JSA, Checkpoint #3, Bridge of No Return/Checkpoint #4, OP Dora, and lastly the Tunnel #3. I have to tell you it was an awesome experience I had going around to these places and looking into North Korea and learning about the history I am now surrounded with once again. I will try my best to group the pictures together best I can and give you a brief overview of what it is you are looking at. For LOTS more information, consult the internet and you will find some very interesting things about these locations I visited, as I am not going to type out all the details of all my pictures.

We will start with the JSA and the conference room area where they do business meetings. We were allowed inside and onto the NK side, so I can officially say that I have been to NK! The SK Soldiers standing guard are highly trained and were there for our protection during the tour. They didn't move a muscle and the pose they have is significant, which I will explain during the pictures. As soon as we got there, a NK Soldier came out of their Welcome Center on the other side and stood at attention the whole time. There was another NK Soldier inside watching the video feed from the two camera you see on the front of the building and also looked at us with binos from inside the building.

The speakers on the table (3 of em) are monitored 24/7.

This is the dividing barrier in the middle of the buildings, which I am now standing on the NK side of the building.

The bridge of no return is pretty self-explanatory. The American Soldiers did say that the guard shack on the opposite end of the bldg is NOT subject to UN regulations and that they know there are heavy weapons inside that bldg. They also stated there are NK Special Forces from time to time that patrol those woods across the way day and night.

This picture is the site of the tree that was cut down and JSA Soldiers lives were lost when NK Soldiers brutually attacked them with axe's when they were doing it. For more information, follow this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axe_murder_incident

OP Dora: This OP overlooks Propaganda village the best. There was a yellow line on the sidewalk that prevented you from taking real good pictures of the village.

3rd Tunnel, for more info follow this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_Tunnel_of_Aggression
I walked down into it and walked all the way to the end where the NK side is. Of course it is closed off, but there are windows cut out from each side where you can look through. We were not allowed to take pictures down in the tunnel, but they had a spot light on the NK side showing their wall and a cutout into it. I can only think of what is on the other side of the tunnel...

I do have other high resolution photos that were taken with an actual camera and really show detail of the NK side of things. If you are interested in them, shoot me a message and I can email you one of two of them. I hope you liked what I had to share and only wish that you could see some of the things I experienced while I am here in South Korea.
