I just did the DNR survey on deer season. I told them to take a break after Mid-Nov 'til the December rut and then close it again until February. THEN open it back up for bucks only in February. This would give small game hunters a fair shake during the best part of the year.
I also suggested over the counter doe tags instead of either sex days to generate revenue and put meat hunters on equal footing with trophy hunters. I don't take much time to hunt deer, so when I do it's time to make meat. I literally kill small bucks every year because it's quicker than putting in extra time to find does on doe days. If I had doe tags in my pocket I'd let those bucks walk. Tags was how it was when I lived in SC. It seemed to work well.
Well, what did y'all say?
