if you are caught driving uninsured they will tow your car vs give you a ticket. if you don't have insurance you shouldn't be driving...

I have been doing that since I started. No insurance find a ride home and then call A-Tow to get your car.

in jackson county you cant get tag without it and when my ins lapsed i got pulled over they cited me and made me call a ride home and towed my truck

The problem with the law is that the fine is chicken scratch. If the fine were more like $5000.00 they probably wouldn't have to write as many tickets and surly wouldn't be writing them to the same people again and again.

Not having proof of insurance, and not having insurance is a fairly serious distinction. So if you forget your wallet with your insurance card they impound your car?

In georgia year 2011, the police know whether the car you're pulled over in has current insurance or not, that is if it's not with a drive out tag (paper).

By ga law, Insurance companies must notify Ga DMV immediately on any lapse of coverage, which is instantly known to officer or dispatcher when the officer calls in the tag.
