Do you fill your mags to capacity?

In my oppinion i would think that in this day and age it is perfectly fine to load to full cap. We are in a modernized world with cars that can get 100 mpg. Im sure the billion dollar firearms companys have solved this issue.

Have you ever tried to seat a full magazine with the bolt closed on an AR? Same with a 15+rd pistol?

If you would read the rest of the thread you will find that it is not just about metal longevity but also about reducing the potential for malfunctions while increasing the lifetime of the mags.

The info. I have related is current day stuff from people, including myself who are putting dozens up to hundreds of cycles of loading & unloading these mags. each month if not each week.

Funny this thread popping back up. I was standing at a counter at work a week or so ago when I suddenly felt a slap on my lower back, heard a FRAAAAKKKKKK! and then something bounced off my heel. I look back and see half a mag of .40 S&W rounds on the floor. I was carrying my G27 IWB as usual with a fully loaded mag with a Pearce +2 extension. The extension popped loose and SURPRISE! The gripping ridges on the Pearce extensions are MUCH thinner than the standard Glock baseplates. So, for me, +2 Pearce now means +1.

Depends on the weapon system. AR's I load 28. 1911's I load to full cap. Doublestack pistol mags, -1 or -2. This is just to promote reliable feeding. It's flexes of the mag that wears out the spring, not leaving them fully loaded. But my advice would be to thoroughly test whatever system you are using, and do what works for you.

I usually leave one out unless its a 1911 then you really don't have the capacity to spare.

I rotate my carry and backup magazines. Carry mags are ALWAYS FULL while my back up magazines are ALWAYS FULL. I have never had an issue.

I have heard about spring slip and feed lip creep, but no issues EVER. 4 years active duty, shooter all my life.

If I do not plan to have a weapon in Ready Status, I will drain it down. I will however keep one magazine FULL. The rest can be emptied.
