So far, so good. We'll see what Santa brings in the morning. I've given up on a sack of $100 bills.
If your equipment is not up to the task you should repair/replace as neede to keep yourself as effective as possible.
I used to have problems with my assigned m4 back in the day, and not being able to get fully loaded mags to seat with the bolt closed. Ever since then it has been a habit to load them with 29 rounds.
I can see where the notion that springs will wear out after being fully compressed forever, makes sense to me. But then again im not a metal spring expert lol. What I do is rotate my mags monthly between loaded and my spares. That way it covers my ass in case it is true, and gives me an excuse to buy double the mags.

The only reason i couod see to go -1 would be when loading an AR with a closed bolt.
The beautiful thing about AK47 mags is that when they are loaded to capacity, they insert perfectly every time due to the front pivot point on the mag catch (leverage) when mounting them. Plug.
i load mine all the way, it saves space on storage.
if a magazine cant hold tension or work properly then its no good anyhow and would probably cause a failure anyway (the easy way to keep a jam happening from a magazine is to check them out every so often and if the spring is no good buy a new mag or replace the spring)
