Do you really need re-confirm your rifles?

Zeroed a Rem 700 Sendero with a Vari-X II in '95, fired it next in 2011, using same ammo. Same POI at 200 yds. Dial1911 is right. Unless it's bumped it should print same at the same distance.

See thats what i figured it seems weird that all these other factors could knock if off, and even if so it shouldn't be more than a inch or so.

I have a 308 scout setup (not a gunsite, no one bite my head off) thats been knocking around in my truck wrapped in a towel since October. Im dying to see where it hits with the $40 Amazon scope next time I shoot it...

Kinda just doing it as an experiment since I couldn't afford a decent scope when I got the rifle.

35 years hunting with the same rifle. Would shoot 3 rounds right before season. In all those years never had an issue. Now that I tore apart and mounted new scope, ceracote done, and hydrodipping, it probably will not be the same again. I broke the mold per say.

I guess I ment with like ARs and red dots

I primarily hunt with an AK and Aimpoint T1/Larue mount, and I always recheck zero. Of course I am shooting it throughout the year, but I always check again before deer season. FWIW it has always been 100%, but it is a hunting/training tool and always getting banged around so I have to check.
