On Saturday, March 5th, I received the nomination for Bartow County Commissioner by unanimous consent at the Libertarian Party of Georgia State Convention.

I pledged to work tirelessly to win the general election this November and to bring accountability to the office of commissioner.

Bartow County has the worst collection of county ordinances that I have ever seen. The incumbent believes he can tell you where to live, run off business, and even allow the Sheriff's Department to search your premises without a warrant. These are the policies of a big government establishment Republican in the tradition of Mitt Romney, Jim Boehner, and Mitch McConnell.

The establishment Republicans have exploded Bartow county government spending at a rate even President Obama couldn't match. For the pleasure of spending our tax money and enacting these irresponsible ordinances the establishment Republicans took $1.1 million as a yearly budget for the commissioner's office. That's simply shameful.

Bartow County offers no break for the retired from public school taxes. Bartow County has high taxes and has regulated businesses out of the county. Cabela's and Racemark International both chose to locate a few feet over the county line rather than deal with the establishment.

It's impossible to maintain a small town feel with big government. When I am commissioner, I will cut government overreach, work with citizens, and end wasteful spending.

Ronald Reagan said it best, "Government is not the solution to your problems, government IS the problem." We have seen that played out in Bartow county by Reagan's own party. Bartow deserves better.

Folks, this campaign will be an uphill battle. The big money establishment Republicans will pull out all the stops to be sure they keep their fingers in Bartow County's $111 million budget. The incumbent allocates himself a budget each year of $1.1 million.

I don't have 1st hand knowledge but I've read Doug is a good guy, a pro 2A attorney who has helped many w/gun related legal cases.

Bartow county is fine with the current 2A standings. I'm more concerned with the other issues. I also have no ties with the current commissioner nor do I care about the others running against him. I would be happy to meet and talk to Doug about supporting his campaign.

And I would love to meet with you as well. Feel free to call me at 678 485 9963.

As to what makes me a better choice than Steve Taylor...
1. I will not pass or allow unconstitutional or illegal ordinances on the books. Right off the top of my head the county has an ordinance that claims to trump federal HUD laws, and another that allows sheriff's deputies to search your premises without a warrant. Even if they aren't enforced it's obscene to have them on the books.
2 I see myself as a steward of the money the people of Bartow put in my care. I know what being a fiduciary means and I will ensure tax dollars are not wasted.
3 I'm not going to run businesses like Cabela's off. Government in Bartow IS the problem when business choose to build feet across the county line rather than deal with the establishment Republicans.
4 I'm going to cut the budget starting with the commissioner's office. My job is to enact ordinances and spend money. I don't need Steve Taylor's $1.1 million annual budget to do that. It's wrong.
5. I am not beholden to any good ol boy system and vow to stand up against cronyism, corruption, and back room deals.

As for his primary challenger, I know he grows great hay but I don't know where he stands on much. I guess we will wait and see what he wants to do on day one.
