I shoot 3 gun with this rifle and for faster mag changes that dong gets in the way but I hate plastic grips on AK's so it had to get trimmed back a bit. Ya know for sanitary reasons.....

I've taken this concept to it's logical and sensible conclusion and drilled holes in the grips, frames and mags, (both sides, ambidextrous), of my 1911's, Hi Powers and Walthers, so rounds remaining are just a glance away as I dry fire sitting on the couch. Unfortunately I practiced the technique on my camera, (pics remaining check), so can't post pics.
One of the features of the ASP pistol's design was clear Lexan grips so that you could see your round count without removing the magazine.
The Devel pistol grew out of the ASP, an improved version if you will. It had wood grips with a clear Lexan insert.
