Here's the deal. I'm not going to put anyone's safety in danger by being an asshole and not giving room to merge, following too close, or god forbid, pulling a left in front of a motorcycle. I don't ride a motorcycle because I don't have any desire to put my life in the hands of the idiots that are on the roads all day every day. I'm also going to let people in who need to change lanes and stay a safe distance back from people on motorcycles, because a fender bender with a motorcycle can be deadly for the biker. I don't want to hurt anyone, three patch or not. This is all called, as Captn and Geaux have pointed out - Courtesy. I give that to everyone.

I'm also not going to start a fight with a bunch of guys on Harleys. Or Hondas. Or Truimphs. Or Vespas. Well maybe the Vespas. This is called Sanity

I Respect men who do the right thing and try to live a virtuous life.

Perhaps all of this has been a failure of semantics. Regardless, you obey traffic rules and use common courtesy and we will all be ok. But don't think you deserve respect from me until you have earned it, and I will do the same.

All done now! Back to guns and knives and fun stuff.

he was angry and somewhat new to the cycle world, but after him reading these responses he will have a better understanding of his place as he will be joining a club and going to sturgis..hopefully not to settle a score

So Brad how is your co worker? Is he psycholgically damaged, could care less, angry as hell.....

Very interesting read. I am new to the 2 wheel world. Good info to know. What if it is a two lane road and the group is packed in the left or right lane? Pass or no pass?

that all depends on if you need to then try, if they dont let you pass then fall back or get out of thier way, most would be happy to let you follow them.

lots of explaining/rationalizing here. Apparently someone's skin isn't as thick as he would like for us to believe. Poor baby.

Aww naw, he done gone and hurt my feelings! Lol

What an irresponsible reply. I wasn't hurting or on meds when I agreed with Tazz. Still do. Big bad internet keyboard ninja strikes again. The OP originally asked about what should have been done. Tazz told him. Lots did not like his reply, but the truth is, Tazz was correct. Bullies, criminals they may be. Why set your self up for a situation that you will not win?

Thanks Jerry, I do appreciate it.

Did you read any of his posts? If so, I have no idea how you can say that about me and not him.
And he did more than just say what you should do in order to avoid a bad situation. He essentially implied pretty clearly that he thought the bikers were justified in being dbags

Never said they were justified in being dbags.

I don't think anyone was suggesting that.
Tazz IMPLIED initially that people should bow to the will of gangs out of 'respect'. Sane people RIGHTFULLY took exception to that characterization. He then in subsequent posts clarified his position, in a logical way (IMHO). PUI (posting under the influence) strikes again.
I don't think anyone is suggesting to go looking for a fight with a gang that is by their actions, looking for a fight. If they are... well... GLWS.

That's a good analogy GeauxLSU, thank you. Always like reading your posts, you do have a way with words.

That wasn't going to be my next response, actually, and I never took a poke at bikers in general. I'm pretty sure they're no different than any other bunch where most are good and there are a few rotten apples. I just took issue with him implying that certain groups of bikers are entitled to some undeserved respect and that their behavior is justified because they are "Bad A biker dudes" or some nonsense.

I've re-read all my previous posts in this thread and again, nowhere did I try to "justify" anybody's bad behavior.

My response would have been uncalled for if his post was apologetic but it wasn't. At all. In fact, his "explanatory" post gave me the vibe of "yeah I was a jerk and I know that but so what." Then he went on to explain that he was thick skinned and didn't care what others thought of him (which clearly is untrue as evidenced by the very nature of his post by the way). He then even invited the criticism when he told us to "have at it"
Had he actually said "sorry for coming off as a rude jerk" I wouldn't have had the same response.

The "vibe" you got from my post is just a little bit off there bulldawg, maybe I was a bit of a jerk earlier in the thread but "it is what it is" means what's already been said can't be unsaid now, not "so what". Also I never said I didn't care what others might think about me because there are SOME members here that I do. I said have at it because I know there are a few members here like you who just can't let things go.
You're right though, it was not an apology. I don't have any reason to apologize to folks that start off being jerks to me first, unless they apologize to me first, then I will apologize. I've done it here before and I have apologized to people first that I was a jerk to first.

So now if you'll all excuse me I'm gonna go get on my loudass motorcycle and go run some kid on a Moped off the road and kick dirt in his face. :heh: Now where's that sarcasm button when you need it? Lol

Whoa now, you do realize I'm a rude jerk right? At least according to one member here, probably many more after that comment. Lol

I don't think you are a rude jerk.

I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing. A group of guys is heading up a divided hwy slower than I want to travel, and you are telling me I should not pass them because of their jacket decorations?
