If he was legally allowed to carry a weapon to protect himself and his family then the odds of them getting him out of the truck would have probably been slim to none. It would have evened the odds for sure.

I ride and and respect other on and off the bike. I've seen reference to respecting everyone but Vespa riders. That funny. From what I see most of them are deserving. When the sport bikes, cruisers, tourers etc are parked the scooter guys are still riding. I have a customer that rides a 50cc scooter rain or shine 10 degrees or 100. I respect that. Dude is doing the best he can with what he's got
