entry level flashlight

My vote would be for the TLR3, which you may be able to find for about $70 or better yet the TLR1s which you can get for around $100.

Have you fired at least 500 rounds with that NC Star light attached? There are plenty of reviews of them not making it past 50 or so before the light started to flicker and die. It is not all about having 200 lumens or strobe settings. Quality is key.

No I have not, and don't plan on using it at the range. I too saw those review's where they stopped working after 50 shots (something rattled loose inside) but every night, I flick the switch to check it and it works every time. Hopefully it wont take me 50 shots to get to my shotgun.

Don't get me wrong though, I don't knock quality lights, I have a Streamlight M95 with an IR cap on my AR and a Streamlight Strion on my shotgun. The OP was looking for an affordable light to put on his sidearm, and from my personal experience, the NCstar seems to fit that bill. Now, I don't know if he's looking at putting a light on his sidearm to use at the range, so if he is, than maybe this isn't the light for him.

Light ain't much use if you don't train with it. If you haven't trained with it then under stress you are more likely to revert to prior experience then actually use the light.

I didn't want to drop $100 on a flashlight either at first. I have one of the NcStar led ones that go for about $25 shipped on Amazon. I have been very impressed with it so far. except for the switch location it works pretty good. if its on a nightstand gun its fine but it will turn on in any type of holster. I have fired well over 200 shots maybe even 300 shots with the NcStar LED light trying to break it, no luck yet! I also have a TRL1 I like a lot too. Also have the NcStar green laser which I play with all the time haha, it has held up to over 100 rounds on my Mossberg! I'm just a sucker for flashlights and gizmos!

Oh the NcStar light also held up to around 30 to 50 rounds on my 12 gauge before I took it off cause I felt I was pushing my luck with it. they are fun to play with I am going to get another for a 10/22, should last forever on that!

i run a streamligh tlr3 on my glock 30sf for a nightstand gun.... you go bigger and brighter with a more expensive tlr1... but honestly... i use my weapon light more for working on my jeep. lol

i see the practical purpose... but for most of us, its novelty.

This one seems light a great entry-level light that always shines exactly where you're aiming.
