External cell phone antenna for home use/extended range?

We had same problem at my home and Verizon sent out a guy to check our address for signal strength. He sit in my driveway for a few minutes and left without saying a word. The next day I received a call from Verizon saying we were in what she called a dead zone. She sent out a network extender for free and we have not had any more problems. You can buy one from the website but I'd call first to ask if they could send out someone to check your address.
The network extenders run off of wi fi. I had to get one at my house also. I think the OP stated that he didn't have wi fi at his cabin.

As mentioned in the OP, I'm not spending amplifier kind of money (just not there often enough) but perhaps still useful info for others that may find them viable.
Sounds to me that is exactly what it would take is some sort of amplifier. If you look around you should be able to find BDA system for sub $200 maybe cheaper! Installed several at work,, but cell service dramatically improved last few years so most are not even used anymore!

So uh..,. What happened to all those ones that aren't needed anymore? :becky:

Used to have a bag phone that worked perfectly at my other house. Since those got pulled off the market...........fugetaboutit.
The bag phones with the external antenna were awesome

3 watts of power instead of 1/3 watt

We do this for a living. MPD Digital USACoax.com

WiFi, Ham, Cell & Satphone cabling and antennas. Bit of advice

  • Don't buy a cheap "booster/amplifier" they don't work - the FCC monitors these very carefully and good ones are expensive, cheap ones make your signal LOUDER without being able to get calls through.
  • Don't buy cheap ass Chinese crap. It won't last longer then 6 months
  • Getting a good signal does not have to be expensive. We set up cell cameras and systems out in the middle of nowhere and as long as you have a decent antenna and extension cable it isn't hard.
  • Don't get ripped off - to hit a cell tower 25 miles away at 3 bars runs about $200 to hit one closer is a lot less.
If you need help putting together a system we can do that. Just PM me, shoot us an email or call. We use ONLY made in the USA cable assemblies (we build them) and Swiss and other high end antennas. No cheap ass commie crap ever.
