F150 vs F250 vs mud hole

Saw a fella stick a F150 in a pond once. That's what happens when you're spending grandma's money, I guess.

I feel like the heavier truck needs a wider tire to float the extra weight.
Two rules of thought on that. Wide for floatation and narrow to dig down for traction. Somewhere in between. Best tires for off road I ever saw were AG tractor tires on a truck. The other was a ole set of Co-ops. The in the middle for me is BFG All Terrain.
So then you have the traction. Now you need the weight, torque and a good drive train to run it. That's where the heavy drivetrain comes in from a heavy duty truck. It'll take a lot of abuse

Ground clearance above the front & rear-end chunks is all you got.

Dad’s ‘99 ML430 Benz would transverse mud and snow that would bog my dodge 4wd Cummins pickup
I had a GL 350 that would go places our old farm truck would not. That 4x4 system was magic....

The most impressed I’ve ever been in the mud was with a H-2 Hummer that I bought.
I have owned just about every brand 4x4 ( American made ) on the market at some point and still have 2 f-250’s 4x4. I worked commercial construction site development for 30+ years and the Hummer just would go and go with very little issues.

Edit: The Hummer was running BFG pizza cutters

Good to hear. I'm sure it was the devil when it broke
Unfortunately, got T boned by little old lady while sitting in the turning lane. Hit me in the front driver wheel.

168k miles on it, and they totaled it. Crushed all the steering, transfer case, and tranny. $24k worth of repair parts on a 8 year old vehicle worth $18k......

It kept you safe. Those Euro cars are good at that. Once one is wrecked like that, it's time to move on. It'd never be the same
