Father shoots 17 year old daughters BF in her bed. She told dad she didn't know him.

so when I was a kid I could have been arrested for going over to a friend's house after he invited me, unless I went inside and found his parent's to ask first? right lol
Where did I say he should have been arrested?...
She did not have any legal authority to allow someone into the house, if it did not conform to her fathers wishes.

I know the law as good as any, and I would have done the same thing under the OPs reported circumstances. And if I was investigating the case I would not make an arrest. If other facts surface I might change my opinion.

Yep. This a terrible incident, but it was a good shoot. Looking at the situation from the fathers perspective at the time, any other action on his part would have been irresponsible. He did not know the kid was her boyfriend, he did not know the kid was unarmed. He DID try to handle it without the use of deadly force. He called 911 and tried to gain control of the situation (DON'T MOVE!), but the kid apparently decided to argue with a man with a gun in his hand and moved anyway.

Nothing that is discovered after the fact is relevant. Only what was known at the time determines if this was an appropriate action on the father's part. It was.

He had every Reasonable Cause To Believe his daughter was in mortal danger.
