I am looking for suggestions on finding coal for specific bullets in a semi automatic. For a bolt gun I just back out my sizing die 3 or so turns to where it just barely holds the bullet and then load it in the chamber, then extract and measure. How would I go about doing this with a gas gun, ar10 specifically...

Yeah, that's the simple answer. You aren't going to hit the lands at magazine length, unless you intentionally ordered a single-shot match barrel.

But buying the tool is always the best answer. The Hornady Lock-n-Load tool works great. Then you will know for sure.

Thanks, just had me wondering because my coal in my 25:06 is shorter than what is listed in Lyman book as well as nosler website with that specific bullet. Thanks for the input!
