Seriously, it was a stand up move. If a female loved one of mine was confronted by some dumb ass holding her car door open, I could only hope a man like you would step up and do what's right. There are times when a real man will say to hell with the consequences and do what is right. Situation de-escalated. Nobody hurt. Nice work.

I've made the mistake a few times of not doing it because it was inconvenient but in hindsight I wish I had.

Although I know (or am known by) most of the L.E. in this area, that won't matter much if something "almost happens" & "Murphy" decides to show his ugly face.
I've heard of way too many incidents where the "good guy" was put on the defense by not calling after an encounter...all the way up to a "felony stop" because of a "man with a gun" call. I prefer not to be "that guy".

I'm glad I read this because honestly, I probably would not think of it in this particular situation. At my house or attempted robbery, sure, but probably not in this situation. I will think of this if it ever happens...Until then I hope it never does.

It is something to consider.
People stay so busy that the inconvenience of calling it in or even meeting an Officer & giving a statement sounds unpleasant but if the tables are turned having them track you down to your home or office could be even more so.
