Flashed weapon today, did I handle this correctly?

I guess it all depends on exactly how you felt when confronted.
The only thought that I have is what very few times that I have felt the need to think about possibly using my hand gun well I had already eased the weapon out of the holster and had it beside my leg ready for use, I am not going to be pulling up a shirt or jacket with one hand and showing the gun myself.
IF I ever get to the point of actually pointing it well things are likely to go down hill fast.
it just doesn't take that long for someone to grab you and make draw very difficult.
alls well that ends well.

Youre alive, the woman is, and no one got hurt or arrested. Thats a win in my book. Good job. Dont get bent around the axle about technicalities.

I personally don't buy into the whole "If you pull it, kill it" scenario; perhaps I'm just not in the know, but it seems reasonable to me that if you can "brandish" on your hip and get somebody to back off, then you win. If that doesn't work and you have to draw to low-ready (without shooting) and they back off at that time, again, a win as far as I'm concerned.

I agree. My take on "if you pull it, kill it" has been if you are going to draw or brandish a weapon (gun, knife, flame thrower, etc.) you need to be ready and willing to use it. If bad guys back's off or the threat otherwise goes away, no reason to send a round downrange just because you drew.

Good to know, if I'm ever in even a mild incident I guess I'll file a report to cover my butt

I've made the mistake a few times of not doing it because it was inconvenient but in hindsight I wish I had.

Although I know (or am known by) most of the L.E. in this area, that won't matter much if something "almost happens" & "Murphy" decides to show his ugly face.
I've heard of way too many incidents where the "good guy" was put on the defense by not calling after an encounter...all the way up to a "felony stop" because of a "man with a gun" call. I prefer not to be "that guy".

I think that you handled it well. 90% of Homie the Clowns are pure mouth anyways. They mainly get loud only to attract the other clowns attention. I usually call their bluff and they STFU and get further.

This^^
Those down town Atlanta homeless dudes are all the same.

I've had so many run ins with those jokers I could write a book.

They understand one language and its fight BS with BS.......you did exactly what I would have done and yes, they always get loud to attract some of the other bottom feeders for back up.

Glad you didnt have to draw and shoot but in light of today's current events with the race batters and the agitator in chief the bottom feeders are becoming more and more emboldened in their efforts to push the envelope.

Very glad for you they didn't decide to commit suicide by armed citizen because depending on the way you look you'd possibly be the next target of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, and most likely Barry Odumbo......can you imagine the grief?

Good lord I don't wanna think about that, but glad it turned out like it did and you were the night in shining armor for the young lady......you're a true man's man and deserve a medal.

It's a sad state of affairs now days that a man has to question the legalities and social acceptance of defending a woman in distress.
