Flashed weapon today, did I handle this correctly?

Why do cops favor whoever called first?
They don't every single time. However if the other party can "put their spin" on what happened then it puts the other party in a less defensible position.
For example, if the other party seems credible & call in a report that you were the aggressor & pointed a gun at them then the police find & pull you over, you will have to change the Officers mind from their original position.

Also "Bad Guys" don't typically call 911 so the Officer will probably be more suspicious of you unless you can change their mind.
Lots of factors influencing that.... other eyewitnesses, video, your appearance, your behavior, etc.

Good to know, if I'm ever in even a mild incident I guess I'll file a report to cover my butt

Protective Measures and RamRod both make (as expected) excellent points. A record of the incident could be very valuable. Best case (fantasy) scenario here is one friend dialing 911 and another videoing the whole thing while you intervened.

Let me start by saying that I CC, no one knows I have a gun and I was taught to never show or pull your weapon unless you intend on shooting it.

With that said. I was working down town Atlanta this morning. We unloaded the truck full of cabinets we had to install so I went to get my guys breakfast at the Mcdonalds on Ponce. As I was walking out there was a young lady in front of me. She got in her car and 1 of the crackheads that ask you for money when you walk in approached her as she was sitting in her car and was saying something to her not letting her close her door. She told the thug she was late for work and had to go, but he wouldn't move. I put my food in the van and walked to where they were. I asked if there was a problem. When I did the thug turned around and squared up to me and wanted to know who the f*** I was and what the f*** I wanted. I told him I didn't want any trouble that the girl looked upset. By this time she closed her door and took of. The thug continued to yell obscenities and to walk toward me as I backed up toward my van and explained everything was cool and I didn't want trouble. At this time 2 of his thug buddies that were leaning against the wall outside Mcdonalds came over. The original thug really started yelling at this point. I felt very threatened by him and his 2 buddies so I raised my shirt and put my hand on the grip of my gun and told him I really didn't want trouble. He shut up, his buddies walked away and I got in my van and drove off.

I have played this through my head all day and wondered what I could do differently. It all ended well, no shots fired nobody killed.

Any comments from the ODT crew?
wow i eat there sometimes too! glad to know that everything turned out well....Handled that extremely well sir! you are a Hero to that woman and we all need to be that courageous and vilgilant...most people would have just let it go and moved on...YOU are a HERO!

Thanks for the encouragement guys, but I truly didn't post this to "toot my own horn". I genuinely was second guessing what I had done. Like I said, I was taught to never flash or pull unless you are gonna use it. You guys have put those doubts to rest.

On a different note, those buildings that have a no weapons policy, I would like to share this story with them and rub their Damn noses in it and ask them what could of happened if I wasn't packing.
You are a leader ,any one faced with that decision would second guess but your first move you didn't guess you just acted..Kudos! Merry Christmas!

Nice outcome. If things got ugly 50 witnesses would have said this wonderful man was helping a woman get in her car and you came up and just executed him. And a local jury would have given you the death penalty. After The Reverend Al lead a protest against you. (I'm assuming for some strange reason that Al would side with the dead thug (s) ).

You got lucky in my cynical view.
