FN SCAR’s move to the discontinued list

scar is nothin special and it’s ~20 years old at this point and overpriced.
I love FN, own two FN guns (PS90 SBR and Reflex XL), and believe they are one of the best gun manufacturers out there.

I also believe you are 100% correct. I think we can (partly) blame Call of Duty and other games that are overhyping them. We can also blame consumers for continuing to buy SCARs at the insane prices they’re at now and have been at for years.

Are they cool? Sure. Do I want one? Yeah, in .308. Are they $4,000 rifles? Absolutely not. The PSA JACKL, AKA the poor man’s SCAR, is something like $1,000ish new? I nearly bought one from their South Carolina store because it’s so similar to the SCAR.

Maybe it’s a created and fuzzy click bait story fed to the media to boost sales. Can’t have one even if you wanted one theme always boosts sales.

Bye bye to the most overrated rifle in modern history.
Bought the first 17 avail in Macon many years ago, hated the rattling cheek riser/buttstock. Could not see a $2,500 rifle being worth that much money and rattling like a child's toy. Dumped it during the "Great Neckbeard Panic of 2013" for $4,500 and never looked back. I did like a $1,500 16S but sold it too a couple of years later.

Which AR style 308 is the one to buy nowadays? (instead of a scar)

JAKL does look good, but so far I really like my Tavor 7.

I can't say I'm too surprised about the SCAR going away though, as mentioned above it was way overpriced for what it was. I think the first video game I saw it in was Crysis, and it became a game icon after a while. Probably the only thing that kept it selling even a little bit.
