The best one you can afford that matches your needs. They don't part swap like AR15s and they are hard on parts. DD5V1/2/3/etc, REPR, LMT MWS if you can find a factory one. ADM makes a good one also. I wouldn't be afraid of a JP, either.

FN SCAR’s move to the discontinued list

I’ve owned three 17s and one 16. Used both in classes and liked the way they shot versus some other guns I’ve owned. I know you’re probably looking for that mythical guy who served in SF with them, but i definitely liked my 16 more than most ARs I’ve owned. The 17 to me was…meh. It shot good with the muzzle brake, and was fun, but it never really impressed me compared to guns of similar build. I like the XCR-M better if you want something comparable and that’s what broke me from the SCAR entirely, but it’s certainly not perfect. SCAR was always a money hog if you wanted to accessorize it. If I did what I felt like would have made a 17 a much better shooter, and for suppressor use, I would’ve spent quite a bit compared to just using a well built AR10 honestly.
FN sales reps (territory guys) have also made comments to dealers about getting rid of stock of the NRCH model as they were discontinuing the SCAR but something else was coming along. Whether that’s the IWS, we have to wait and see. Grabagun also sent out an email regarding them being discontinued.
TL;DR - SCAR is a cool gun to a lot of people, is very reliable (in my experience), but dated by today’s standard and been jacked up way too much on price in recent years by FN.

That is correct the SCAR 17 and SCAR 16 ARE discontinued, they have been replaced completely by the SCAR 17 NRCH and SCAR 16 NRCH.
This is exactly what I have said 2x on this thread.
I’m am shocked at how hard this is for people to understand.
No offense Booshie, but it’s sorta hard I guess when FN is putting out statements contradicting what you are saying.

It appears to be all models, and I’ve been told this by an FN territory rep that this was coming before it happened. I just waited to see if it was true. And my previous post from Grabagun seems to confirm it as well.
Their statement on twitter did not differentiate. All 16, 17 and 20 discontinued with the 15p remaining
It 100% differentiates, it’s literally in the name.
The new line says “NRCH” at the end.
The old line didn’t.
This would be the equivalent of people saying Apple has discontinued the iPhone. And then completely ignoring the model number at the end.
The original RCH was discontinued in 2021 when the NRCH was discontinued. This applies to the NRCH as well man.
In every statement they are very clear to say Legacy SCAR, not NRCH SCAR.
Even their website shows RCH(legacy) SCARS in the discontinuation page along with ONLY the poorly coated Multicam NRCH models, the NRCH models are still currently for sale.
