Thanks. Been reading a little on it and supposedly issued to airborne troops. But it also has the SS runes on it followed by numbersLooks like an original German gravity knife. Nice find.
Mine is very stiff. Probably put a little oil on it and put it up for another 40 yearsI have a repro and you can work it like a butterfly knife if you practice.
Lift the safety, hold the portion of the handle that is next to your hand, then flick it away from you. Like a switchblade once you get good at it.
It's my understanding that Nazi memorabilia similar to this are illegal in Germany. MY SIL who is German came to visit once and she brought three Nazi pins with her for me. Regular Red/Black/White Swastika, an Eagle Pin and one that was a mix of a pin made to commemorate a meeting between Japanese and Nazis. She was a caretaker for the old guy that actually wore it.. It had a Japanese sunrise burst inlaid with a Swastika. I had an Eastman's dealer who dealt in that stuff 20 years ago really hustle me to buy it. Still have it..Unfortunately, It’s a replica for the tourist market. I got taken to the cleaners on two of them. Worth about $20.
