my "hip" grandson says one of the new scams is to take a photo of the card, front and back, and you have all the numbers to use later. This is common at restaurants where the server leaves with your card for a couple minutes.

Stay the hell out of walmart.Anyone else having issues?
Last month, I replaced my card as the chip no longer worked and walmart among others didnt accept the swipe. 2 weeks later I had fraudulent activity. 8 transactions from Twitch Entertainment for 19.95 each.
I reported to the bank. And got a new card.
This week, I recieved letters stating my card is compromised. The other letters said no prior fraud/error was found and they were taking the money back from my disputes. I check my history last night and found a new fraudulent charge for $350.
There is more to the story but I'm not happy with United Community Bank. Calling them again...
Two new cards and this mess to deal with... fighting with the bank over the obvious.
Amex does seem to do better. They also offer checking accounts that come with a debit card these days. I'd imagine their better security comes with it. I still prefer to use a cc as much as possible. No way Id be using a debit card for anything more than an atm visit. Get a cc. Let them handle the fraud when it happens. I recommend American express. Been with them 20 years. Ive never had my card hacked but I did get taken for an item on ebay years ago. They immediately refunded my money and went after the seller who turned out to have a criminal record.
Ive also been with several visas. Every one of them was hacked at one point or another. I dont know what Amex does different but their fraud protection is superior based on my experience.
It used to be that banks would send you all your old cancelled checks every month, but that hasn't been the case for decades now.I would agree with it being an inside job. I just went through someone washing a check. Now the check was written to an individual that runs a business. She deposited it at Bank of America in Conyers the same day. No possibility of anyone outside the bank touching it as she is the only one to have touched it. 3 months later it was run through again for over $4k. The original amount was $80.
Now how does someone get ahold of a check once it is in the banks possession if they are not working at the bank or in their system?
