This is true too... while the powder loads they use are probably consistent, they don't make any attempt to sort the brass by make, at least for re-man pistol ammo. The different cases mean different pressures, so you will never really get even semi-consistent groups with their ammo unless you sort it by headstamp yourself.
I'd also forgotten until you mentioned it, but I also had a 9mm case split completely in two as well. No harm done since it was in a revolver (my 9mm LCR), but it would have jammed up a semi-auto pretty good.
That all being said, the prices can still be good when they discount shipping (or offer it free) and it's not the worst ammo I've ever shot.
