Hey fellas...got an old shot gun question for ya. I've got an old Iver Johnson 16g single shot shotgun that reads on the barrel, "full choke and lug forged in one". What does this mean exactly? I know what full choke means, but I'm uncertain what "and lug forged in one" means. Can I shoot both buckshot and slugs through it? Thanks!

It means that the barrel lug was forged as one piece with the barrel and not silver soldered on after the barrel was manufactured. Do NOT shoot slugs through a full Choke. You can shoot lead Buck shot through it but don't shoot steel buckshot through it.

Thanks Brian618. I appreciate it.

Anyone ever have a gunsmith cut the barrel down a bit to shoot slugs? Needing something for my dad to go deer hunting in a deer slug only state.
