I know exactly what you mean . I was in the Brunswick Wal-Mart twice last week and both time Grandma Moses was running the counter back there. I kept hearing her tell customers she didn't know about a caliber and or scope in a rifle and could not look it up. When I walked by I told the frustrated looking people "Just go to Academy. WAY less aggravating. " But yeah I knew they had 20 and 410 available . I'm not big on 410 mostly due to the cost of the shells. But I might give 20 gauge a shot.
I've watched the same YouTube videos on the Hatfield you did. One guy cut it down and took some heavy gauge wire like a welding rod and made a loop that stuck into the rear of the stock. Then he made a little notch in the vent rib near the muzzle for the wire look to catch in. So his shotgun stayed folded in the backpack. I think he also inletted a slightly larger area in the forearm so the trigger guard fit into it when folded and it folded up tighter.
It's probably the best deal you're gonna get in a single barrel these days. When I worked sporting goods at Roses in 89/90 we sold milsurp rifles and they were on sale every Sunday , It never bothered me to go get 3 or 4 greasy ass Mosins or Enfields to give the customer their choice of rifles. Just took patience and lots of paper towels.
And that’s what makes for good service any where...a “helping” attitude. I’m sure people remember you providing them a good gun purchasing experience, esp when they saw how dirty those surplus rifles were to bring out, haha.
