Ga. considering use of "SUPPRESSORS" for hunting?

im all for supressors for deer hunting. here is my reasoning..

i am a bow hunter. i enjoy the peace and quiet of the woods. i enjoy watching deer do what deer do, and if one hangs around long enough, yeah ill eventually deflate him. more time than not, if i put an arrow in one and there is another there as well, the other one will just stand around wondering what the heck just happened.

long story short, i am in support of supressors for hunting because i dont want to hear some wack job popping off his powder burner trying to kill a deer. of course if i had it my way, we would have archery only from september to january 1st, and then firearms from january 1st to january 3rd. maybe then some of the powder cannon guys would be forced to actually learn the habits of the animals they are hunting, and have to actually outsmart them vs just being able to kill it if they can see it.

All you have to do is ride down the road doing 60 mph with the horn blowing to out smart them right ?

Most civilians would use the firearms legally, but you have the butt-heads that will use them in areas where others are endangered by shots being fired, i.e. neighborhoods, houses to close, or to close to highways. Some on here have said that they would use them for that purpose. I hope that they were kidding.......but!!!!! Therefore, I am againist them and will contact every rep and sen that I can to vote it down. jmo

same to you

You're just afraid of something you don't understand, if you spent some time with people who own them or around suppresors themselves you may understand the flaw in your argument, which as I pointed out is practically copy and pasted from the gun grabbers scripts.

If someone is going to do an illegal action (poaching, shooting in neighborhoods, etc) why will suppresors being legal to hunt with or not affect them. Oh wait hollow point aren't legal, better bit load them up for my bank robbery.

Suppresors are already legal, I'm about 1 month in on mine, all the banning of suppresors does is keep legal hunters inconvenienced.

Actually this is a national issue now. There has been talk by the NRA and other groups to change the laws about a supressor due to issues with hearing loss and encroachment into traditional hunting areas. Some talk of putting them on a 4473 instead of a 1140. I hope it does come to pass as I would buy more without the $200 tax and 8 month wait. The only negs are the wrong people finding a way to get them (straw purchases) and they make the rifle or pistol a PITA to clean. And unless you are using subsonic ammo you can still clearly hear the rifle - it just won't wreak your hearing.

Suppresors are surprisingly easy to make, the wrong hands already have them, but the NRA has had some rumblings about taking on some NFA issues which they have really avoided in the past.

Not againist suppressors, just allowing them to be used in hunting. People will use them as I said and screw it up for all. In fact, I would like one for use in and on he range. I am NOT anti hunters.

Here's my. 02 cents, or. 005 cents from me being sick.. deer are beautiful animals, I will agree to that. Hunting them is always a fun doing. But lets not forget the modern reason behind hunting. Population control. In my hometown there are days during the season when its a shoot anything day, if its below legal size, the food goes to shelters. If its legal you keep it. Yes, that was on a navy base with billion dollars in aircraft, but off base the same problems existed. By keeping deer populations to a normal level you prevent property damage, disease, starvation etc. Poachers will do as they please, laws wont affect them. But when you drop one deer, two others just stare and you rattle off that 30-30 two more times, your ears take a beating. The suppressor laws wont change the bag limit. Instead of worrying about suppressors, start putting bounties on coyotes and hogs instead of charging 2k to hunt them for two days. I'd like it if they allowed night vision or IR hunting of coyotes and hogs..but, by doing that you reduce the predator to prey relationship, which means the deer population grows rampant, meaning more problems, like disease, starvation, property damage. A simple suppressor isn't going to change that. Most hunting rifles are way above supersonic, a suppressor wont make a huge difference, but it will help the few people that go that route.
