I worked on the crew that opened the store in Lawrenceville. I was in the Hunting/Shooting department. I quit the week the store opened.

They had assembled a group of men and women who were highly experienced in their particular type of shooting. Skeet/Trap, hunting, tactical, you name it.
And I really doubt that any of the original group of us are still working there. The "training manager" used to brag about how often she got people fired. She and a couple other "trainers" were rumored to be skimming commissions off some of the people who stayed longer than I did.
They brought in managers from other stores and they treated all of us (all part timers, with careers or retired from careers) like complete morons.
Whatever they have left working in that store now are "smiling faces" and "great personalities".

Eff Them.

Had a really bad experience in the one in Valdosta. That was enough for me. I received some type of apology from the store manager, I guess that what he was, and an invitation to come back but I mean come on. The prices at GM make BPS look like Walmart. I am never going to ask twice to have someone come over and show me a gun. Never. Keep standing around drinking your mocha lattes kibitzing about the weekend. You'll have plenty of time to play after the fire sale.

Shame, thirty and forty years ago they were a great company to do business with.

They had great prices, when you called they knew who you were and had your order history, might even have asked you if you were still happy with a recent purchase and were always ready to take something back if you weren't completely satisfied.

They were one of the very first business's with a real computer system and they really were a great place to do business with.

Then somewhere along the line they just dropped off the face of the earth and Cabela's became the go to guy.

Wonder what the hell happened because they went straight down hill after that.....
