Thanks for the reminder.Better dust that baby off. It might come in handy soon. Helene is on her way.
NICE!I bought a 12,000 watt gen about 1.5 month ago, got 8 5gal cans, having the AC guy install a soft starter which will really help with the start up cycle on the AC. Plus I have a 5500 watt as back up.
Think I'm ready
I have a 24Kish Generac whole house generator and a 1000 gallon propane tank. The 1000 gallon tank can only hold 800 gallons and if it runs 24/7 it'll burn the 800 gallons in a week. If the power goes out. The Generac will auto start in about 30 seconds.Solar has its place.
The only place I would invest in a generator is Florida due to the heat. Being 67 the heat would be unbearable.
I am curious to find out the cost to run a generator for a week. I read earlier on past threads that someone mention 500.00 on propane for 3 days. That's 167.00 a day. Thats equivalent to a hotel stay.
However saving the food in the fridge and being home to protect valuebles is a plus.
I looked up propane cost per gallon. 2.93.I have a 24Kish Generac whole house generator and a 1000 gallon propane tank. The 1000 gallon tank can only hold 800 gallons and if it runs 24/7 it'll burn the 800 gallons in a week. If the power goes out. The Generac will auto start in about 30 seconds.
Air conditioning, food in the fridge, and freezers are never an issue.
When the power comes back on, it stays on for a little bit and monitors the power before shutting down all by itself.
If I had a natural gas available in my area, I wouldn't need the propane tank.
what he said x100I looked up propane cost per gallon. 2.93.
Wow. 800x2.93 = $2,344.00 a week. Its cheaper to throw the food away or cook as much as possible and toss the remainder.
