I know a lot of people are interested in losing weight, getting in shape or just improving their overall health. Two months ago I looked at myself in the mirror and stepped on the scale. I did not like what I saw. I decided then and there to get my ass back in gear and do whatever I needed to do to get back to the weight I was in December 2011. That meant changing everything and dropping 35lbs of body fat.
Last week I posted this in the "Thread for Posting Things that Nobody Else Cares About" and, to my surprise there were people that cared a lot about it. I started getting a lot of PMs and questions. Since this post I have dropped another 3 lbs and have now hit 21 lbs.in just under a month. I have 15lbs to go to reach my original goal but will probably go even further than that.My new goal is 40lbs total.
A couple of us are now "Friends" on the My Fitness Pal app and would like to invite anyone that might be interested to download the app and join us for the journey. If you need support, help, ideas, etc... Additionally, I want to keep this thread open for people to post their stories and successes/failures etc... I might be the only one to post in it but if it inspires or helps anyone it will be worth it.
From the other thread:
I started the journey with a much lower expectation and haven't done anything extreme. I am not doing any gimmick fad diets or starving myself.
My success factors so far:
If you want to join us on MFP, shoot me a PM and I'll send you an invite.
Good luck.

My success factors so far:
- Alcohol
- I cut it out entirely for the foreseeable future, I plan on staying alcohol free at least until I reach my goal weight. That weight is the weight I was in a picture I now keep as my phone background from December 2011.
- Exercise
- I taught Spin and Bootcamp classes for 4 years. I also was a Jujitsu, Randori, Hapkido and TKD student and trainer for 8 years. When I moved out to Monticello in 2013 I gave all of that up to work on my house and land, and to become the youth pastor of a local church (in addition to my normal job). I put on 35 lbs since then. Over Christmas I got pretty depressed about it and decided to stop being a pussy and to fix it.
- I called two gyms to see if they needed instructors and pitched them my fat story and offered to start "fat guy fitness" and let people see that it can sneak up on anyone. I wanted people to get fit with me.
- Now, I get up every morning at 4:15am. I go to Golds Gym and teach a Spin class on Wednesday @ 5:45 and go to the YMCA to teach the same class on Thursday. I also sub classes during the week. If I don't have a class, I lift for 20 minutes and do 45 of cardio.
- Nutrition
- I use the My Fitness Pal app. I enter everything I eat or drink into the app and track everything. I can tell you down to the single calorie how much I have had on any given day and how much I have left.
- I average 1500 calories a day and stay full on healthy foods. I have found that I have to make myself eat sometimes to get enough calories or the app bitches at me.
- Cleanse
- On January 7 I started the "All In 2015" Advocare 24 Day Challenge. It is a complete body cleanse and lean mass building program that lasts 24 days.
- Between December 26 and January 7 I had lost 4 lbs. Since then I have lost an additional 17.
- Water
- I drink a gallon a day

Good luck.
