Getting in shape for summer... who's in?

In for the before and after pics for you guys. Good luck and stay with it. Consistency is key. Do it right more than you do it wrong and you'll get there. Good luck.

You don't need to be a Ranger or a vet..only need is that you want to move forward slightly faster than you can today. We'll help you. It's my altruistic contribution to the running society. No $ needed, no talent needed, no speed or endurance needed. Come as you are and we'll help you along.

wow. never heard of this. i dont know if my degenerating knee could handle doing something like this again. (i did something like this for soccer 20 years ago, before the dislocated knee).

that is pretty cool :thumb:

My weakness... Sitting here watching Sons of Liberty wanting to relax with a nice, dark beer.

I really need to start doing something different myself. I haven't seen a scale in quite a while, but I've gained weight and I'm in the worst shape I've ever been in. My biggest problem is just plain, old laziness. I told myself for a while that I couldn't work out until I did something about my back and neck issues. Now that those issues are almost completely gone, I have no more excuses other than just being lazy and unmotivated. I have never been able to motivate myself to work out by myself.

It's simple but not easy. Eat less, exercise more, stretch, and rest. My formula? Run 4-5 times a week, calisthenics daily, eat three well-balanced meals and two snacks a day, drink lots of water, and get at least six hours of sleep a day.

But you won't lose weight until you cut those portion sizes.

85% nutrition, MFP is a great tool to use. Those of you that don't like "working out", just start tracking your calories. You'll be amazed by how much weight you will lose.

I think focusing on weight loss sometimes is the wrong metric. If you're hitting the weights pretty hard you may actually gain weight as you build muscle. I much prefer body fat % as the best measure of - am I becoming more or less off a slob.
