Just an opinion, not intended as an insult:
I had a Gen3 24. I bought it to shoot standard bowling pins off of a 4x8 table top. The table had side rails to prevent the pin from falling off the sides-fullpower loads were needed. The 24’s six inch barrel did a great job of getting power out of the 40S&W. However, the heavy slide made the gun slow to cycle and created a lot of muzzle rise. The G17L has a lighter slide and shoots 115-125Grain bullets like a laser-a much better gun than the 24 in my opinion. A Gen 3 or later G35 with a comp is a better option in 40 caliber if power is the goal.
I think the 24 is great for allowing the 40s&w to generate a lot of velocity—it is a big increase over a G22, but it it is not good for rapid firing, USPSA style shooting. I went back to a 45ACP with a comp for the bowling pin game. The fact that the Gen2’s were “2 pin” guns, makes them less desirable for shooting max power loads.
The Gen 2 24, and 17L are known to have the best factory trigger ever produced.
The only use for a 24 is: collecting.
I think the reasons above are why it is only worth about $600. That is not to say that there is not a buyer out there that would pay more.
