Glock 42 Image

Yeah...this is bull****. They could have made a serious 9mm competitor for the Kahr or a genuine pocket .380, but Nooooo...they had to half ass it and make neither. So a long slide 45 ACP and a POS, too big 380 is what they came up with? ****. As good as Glocks customer support is you'd think they could frigging listen to us as well.

Yup. F y'all I'll go buy a kahr or db9 for pocket carry.

Yes,exactly! There is no reason for this gun to exist or for Glock to put it into production. Who needs 6+1 rounds of .380 when you can get 6+1 rounds of 9mm in the DB9 or 7+1 in a PF9 AND most likely cheaper. Seriously, I would rather have 5 rounds of +P 38 Special than this package. Maybe the hardcore Glock collectors will buy it because they have to own one of every model but that's about it. This entire project was a waste of time, resources, tooling and advertising.

If it works I think Glock will do alright with this pistol. I keep hearing how Glock missed the boat with this .380, but almost every company so far that has sold a pocket .380 lately has done pretty well. Ruger entered the market with only Kel-Tec and Kahr to contend with and did very well. A few years later S&W released their Bodyguard .380 and again it sold very well. Glock will most likely do the same. This pistol should be priced between $350 and $399 (here on OTD it will sell for $550FIRM), and at the $350 to $399 price point it will compete with the Bodyguard. Like the other companies that made a pocket .380 it seems the natural progression is to move on to 9mm and .40. I don't think this will be any different for Glock. Who knows, maybe Glock will announce a 9mm single at the NRA show.

Problem here (and this is supposing the info presented thus far is accurate) is that GLock has NOT made a pocket .380. What this gun, with these dimensions, is is essentially a Glock branded Shield in 380. It's too big for pocket carry.

Glock 42: L 5.94 W .94 (.836 slide) H 4.13 Wt 13.4 oz
Kahr P380: L 4.9 W .75 H 3.9 Wt 9.97 oz
Kel Tec P3AT : L 5.2 W .77 H 3.5 Wt 8.3 oz
Ruger LCP: L 5.16 W .82 H 3.60 Wt 9.4 oz
S&W Bodyguard L 5.25 W * H * Wt 11.85 oz W/Integral laser.

So Glock released the Heaviest, longest, tallest, widest 380 available in the "pocket pistol" arena? Revolutionary Glock, revolutionary. Way to listen to the customers.

And strider...we, as consumers have every right to voice our displeasure at ANYONES business decisions that we do business with. You seem unable to grasp this simple concept. Our "anger" even has a name in business circles...it's called consumer opinion and there is an entire industry thriving on learning what WE the consumer thinks and wants. Periodically, some executive at some level will decide that he knows better than the voices shouting from the street what is in demand and will sell. Invariably, he is wrong...as now. A shining example of this was "New Coke". And while Glock will surely sell some of these white elephant 380's they have missed a HUGE boat. Well, companies lose money and right themselves in the face of consumer dissatisfaction, unlike governments who simply keep ramming unpopular and unfeasible programs down our throats. I suspect that Shot Show 15 or 16(providing the political climate doesn't kill the industry by then) will show that Glock has heard the voices of anger over this POS, oversized non-event of a gun.

Time will tell.

For which you will have up for sale or trade in 2 weeks after getting it. So why nut just start giving away $50 to random people since that's what you do with guns, but this way it'll be cheaper in the long run.

LOL! You just may be onto something there. ;)

BTW LOVE the sig...ain't it the truth!

I understand what you are saying. And I was in no way serious with my comments.

That being said, if this is a 380 it will do well. Not everybody that buys pistols is as critical as we are. I assume (maybe my mistake) that everyone on here is a critical "gun guy". I know I am. The casual gun guy/gal will hear there is a new Glock and run and get it.

I also believe that A LOT of the folks complaining will secretly get it anyway.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

LOL! You're right..we (and especially I) tend to nit-pick the hell out of guns...could be why I trade into and out of so many. I kind of think that there will be a lot of "OD Glock" buying of the new guns as well. People, like us, who weigh and measure will find these dimensions unsatisfactory and the line will falter. So there will be a "collector" premium on them in a year or so.

And the squeeky wheel/ closet buyer theory is probably also accurate.

Heck, if they just shave it down to be CLOSE to my P3AT, I'll jump all over it for the niche. And if they do come out with one CLOSE to my PM40, I'll liquidate those two and replace them with Glocks as well. In my mind Glock really has a significant advantage by the time they stamp Glock onto them. They just have to be in the ballpark on specs.

I'm just disappointed that for the 3rd or 4th year in a row, they ignored my incessant begging for a Glock PM40. Grrr.... Hope Santa brought them a lump of coal.

And Merry Christmas to you and youren as well...'course us sitting here Christmas morn, doesn't bode all that well. HO HO HO!
