Y'know, that's a seriously interesting idea; inserting a copy of your information. A typical gun thief probably wouldn't even think to remove that plug, and on the off chance that an honest person came by the weapon, it could increase the chance that someone may call you & return the gun. It's a long shot, but still an idea worth thinking on.

It would be more just in case I ever had my wallet stolen or forgot it or something. That and there's times that I just don't want to lug around my full EDC kit with wallet and all.

I can't really imagine a time that I can get away with carrying a 19 but not a wallet, but you catch my drift.

Not sure how it would go to tell a LEO that a copy of your carry permit is inside your gun either, but it's gotta be better than having none at all!

If I got one, it would only be so I could keep a copy of my GWL in the gun.

Problem would be is that that area is where the gasses are expelled out of the gun and I doubt the paper would hold up.

I've used them before, kinda with the mindset that they would keep dust out of the firearm a bit.

Only if you carry them a lot but only shoot them a little.
The plugs actually trap powder/ debris so if you use them make sure to occasionally remove it & clean out that whole area.

I'm pretty sure I've heard that the grip is open down there to drain water, if the gun is fully submerged.
