GMC rant! Government motors refusal to repair an obvious engineering flaw

I own a 2004 GMC Yukon XL that has a rear lift door with a lift window in it. We rarely ever use the window and the one time my daughter presses the button to open it the window hinge separates in half and the back window nearly falls off the truck. I thought she had done something to break it until I used Google and find out that this is a well known problem with Yukons, Tahoes and Suburbans and all built by government motors. Every single problem deals with the passenger side hinge coming apart. The hinge is suppose to be permanently glued to the glass however due to crappy engineering it comes apart. GM refuses to repair it and there are no recalls. The dealer said he would replace the door for $800 out of my pocket. The autoglass place wouldn't touch it and would not attempt to repair it. I just got off the phone with the idiots at GM telling me the truck is 10yrs old and they want do anything for it.

Next one will be a Ford!!

By the way, if you have this problem I'll tell you how I repaired mine for $6.00.

End rant!

Is this the only "bad" issue you've had?
Let us know how the "ford" thing goes, cause if you get an expedition, you'll really hate life.

I have a '13 Tundra that started shaking violently at 60mph with ~1500 miles on the ODO.
Since then it has had 3 alignments, 4 pressure balances, a new Rack and pinion assy. and we are on the second set of tires....

I blame the "everyone gets a trophy" crowd for the rampant mediocrity

Oh, and the Odometer just turned 9K

I have a 12 tundra have put 40k on it with no problems

How many times have you swapped out the tires?
Had the tires road force balanced ?

Taken it somewhere besides the stealership?
Frame and Alignment on main street in east point is the best I've ever seen for front end problems

The tires that come stock on most new vehicles seem to be crap. They appear to be the same ones as you can buy at a tire store but usually don't last long at all

They are probably going to replace the cluster with a new unit (that's the only way I can think of it costing $800) .

Check out the ebay link I sent ya. You can drive the truck with the cluster removed, it will run fine. Only, you won't have any info regarding the engine, speed or fuel.

If you were local, I could loan you a cluster to use while yours is being fixed. When mine first started acting up, I bought a cluster from a salvage yard. I used it till the original cluster was repaired.

It's easy to remove, just pull the outer cover that's around the dash off, literally "pull" on it, It just snaps on. Then 4 little 7mm screws (one in each corner) and the cluster comes out. no wires or anything. The plug is made into the dash and stays in place.

That is fantastic news. Thanks for the offer, really appreciate it but that's one of the problems living where I do, it's so far from most other people on here.
