These are my findings with loads maxed to Lee's latest loading manual
Caliber 45 45 44 44 357 357 3030
Weight 185 230 240 300 125 158 130
Average Vel 1060 941 1002 1015 1403 1216 2355
Energy 462 452 535 686 546 519 1600
Momentum 979440 850664 1072140 1392580 1532076 1262208 7536000

The 185/45 is a golden saber, the other 45 is xtp
The 240/44 is a swc, the other is xtp
All 357 are xtp
The 30/30 is Sierra Hot-Core

45 is from 5" 1911, 44 is from 4" redhawk, 357 is from 3" sp101, 30/30 is from marlin 336

Sad because basically i've matched factory specs, albeit they had much longer barrels for their tests i was hoping for much better. Also interesting that remington core lokt factory 170 gr have much more energy than the 130 gr i loaded. I'm going to bring some factory next time i go out to see if they actually test out to what they're advertising.

Long story short, my guns haven't blown up and no real pressure signs so time to go back to the drawing board.

Also, don't buy a chrono unless you want to cry yourself to sleep. Live the dream you've cooked up for yourself.

Interesting numbers. I always knew the manual would be on the conservative side, but I figured a max load to be moving a bit quicker on some of those.

"Bait & Switch" started out as a criminal enterprise that politicians made legitimate ...
As any LEO was taught to do: "Follow the Money"
There is more profit in "loaded" ammo than "components" (mostly because of the "blood-sucking-legal-community")
TORT reform (limiting lawyer fees) is the key, but will NEVER be enacted!

I "know" right. Be sure to use "quotation marks" properly, as they "should" be used to "highlight" words and phrases that you deem "most important"!

One step you might take is to put a second chrony behind yours and check for similarity in the readings. Most of the time they are very close. Then you have some degree of confidence that your numbers are accurate. Mine and a friends were within 1FPS of each other.

Also, I really like the Hornady reload manual. Mine has been dead on with most loads. They use an actual gun of a known make and model for their data.

My Lyman book often uses a test barrel and it is close but not as close.

Barrel length makes a big difference, particularly if considered as a percentage. A 6 inch gun gas 50% more barrel than a 4 inch.

Crimp and COL will give large variation with some powder.

Have fun, welcome to the real world of anal retentiveness and frustration.
