Got got today

Always enjoy Skippers when we come down to the Island👍🏻💯

You think it's bad now? You should have tried it in '87 when I first came down here.
Virtually nothing between Savanna and Macon. And, since it was on a Sunday, literally nothing open.
Including gas stations.
Okay long story long...
In 97 me and the chick living with me decided to drive to Savannah/Tybee one Friday night. I wanted to take my 91 Tracker soft top which was and still is my favorite car I ever owned. Got it for $2K from the original owner. So we packed a bag and filled the tank in East Macon along the way from Byron.
Everything was cool until around the Swainsboro exit when the Tracker started sputtering and then just quit. I thought the fuel pump went out. Now remember that it's well after five on Friday at the Swainsboro exit. So I start calling on my old Cellular One bag phone. I ain't getting anyone to answer. Eventually GSP shows up behind me.
So then I'm asking this big old corn fed Smokey Bear hat wearing trooper about an open garage in Swainsboro. Nothing... Okay how bout a Chevy/Geo dealership? Nothing. Well how bout an Auto Zone or a damn NAPA? Nothing. Finally I said
"Okay well how bout you take that pistol out and shoot me right here in the forehead and we can get this over with?"
"No sir, I ain't gonna be able to help you with that." Said Copenhagen breath . But he did call me a tow truck. Rollback shows up and loads my Tracker up and we get in his truck. And of course he wants to chit chat. He asked if we were married and whatnot. I told him " No not yet. See I just got outta prison." And I just let that last sentence sit there and simmer for a minute. I knew what was coming next. He couldn't resist it. So he asked " Oh well do you mind if I ask what you was in prison for?"
" Oh no man it's cool. See back about ten years ago I shot and killed this nosy wrecker driver and caught a murder wrap." Then he slams the brakes and I can see my Tracker sliding towards us in the cab. That's when girlfriend elbowed me in the side and told old dude I was joking. And then we were on our way again. We pulled up in my driveway in Byron around midnight and it cost me $120.00 in 1997 dollars. That's when old dude saw my Acura Legend and said "Well y'all should probably just load that other car up and try again. What else can possibly happen? So that's what we did. We got to the Days Inn on Tybee that DID have a beach view the last time I was there. But when the sun came up I immediately realized that some fancier hotel had completely blocked said beach view. Oh and girlfriend started soon as we got to the room. So yeah...what ELSE could possibly happen ?
BTW...it was a damn ten dollar fuel pump relay that went out. All that bull**** for a tiny plastic/metal part.

fast306stang fast306stang Was it Knight or whatever his name was? Lol...

He did that on the other site to people just for fun. Never understood why the members wanted to allow him back in. That's one of the reasons why I left. I did a deal with one of the guys on here, that he setup a deal with, that he had no intention keeping.

Glad you had a good day and made the most out of a bad situation. :thumb:

Lol it did bring back memories and me and the wife talked about that. I think he moved to FL and then CO, at least that's the word on the street...

That picture of the old RR bridge is interesting. We have a similar bridge here in Rome. The bridge use to pivot in the center so paddle boats could go through.
