Been itching to put some traps back out since I saw trail cam pics of a couple coyotes strolling by. Just caught this one yesterday evening.

Buddy have me 3 traps for bobcats and song dogs. Ive never done it. Gonna give it a go after deer season.

Can you point me in a direction for tips ? I know a bit about it,but never have done it.

if you wanna shoot them and kill humanly do it... never been a fan of traps.. you break their leg and they suffer in pain...
seems real cruel...
Traps are designed to hold the animal not break bones. If an animal breaks it ls leg chances are strong there was not enough swivels or no swivels in the chain to accommodate the animal jumping around or the chain was wrapped around a sapling, etc to hinder the swivel movement. Ive trapped several coyotes, bobcat, fox, coon, possum, etc. Never had one break its leg in my traps.

cool... you ever stick your hand in one and set it off? i bet it feels real good...
like i said, seems cruel...

Tell me that when you are complaining about a coyote running past a trail cam with the family jack russell in its mouth.
well.. i got blasted for talking about shooting a neighbors dog after it killed some of our animals... but i guess its OK, do what you do... i just see it as a unnecessary cruelty. traps and snares are a no go for me... i have no respect for them...

I full agree with killing a neighbor dog for attacking your animals. Especially after you have repeatedly warned the neighbor about it. My father shot our family dog that put 16 stitches in my face when I was 2. The humane department tried to scold him for doing so and he told them come over in my yard and attack my kids and see if you don’t get the same treatment. I agree traps and snares aren’t for everyone but a lot of the negativity comes from simple ignorance of the practice generated mostly on the part of ignorant or inexperienced trappers.
